Mental Health Practitioner
Sherryn would like to say a big hello to everyone and introduce herself as she settles into her role as the college Mental Health Practitioner. Sherryn has worked as a psychiatric nurse across both acute and community settings and is excited by the opportunity to work closely with Mount Clear College staff, students and families in supporting mental health and wellbeing within the College.
The role of MHP focuses on mild to moderate mental health concerns of students, with an emphasis on primary prevention, promotion and early intervention and follows a 3-tier approach.
- Tier 1 – includes primary prevention and promotion,
- Tier 2 – targeted interventions
- Tier 3 – Individualised and intensive but time limited interventions.
As a school we aim to work collaboratively with students, families and staff to develop our Mental Health Action Plan. Sherryn would also love to hear from parents and carers about what they would like to see incorporated into our Mental Health Action Plan. For example: “what are the things we are doing well” and “what areas we could improve upon”. Please email Sherryn directly via [email protected] to share your thoughts.
If your student is in need of support, please don’t hesitate to make contact via [email protected] or 5330 1500 to discuss whether a referral is required.
