Duke of Edinburgh Award
A positive and rewarding challenge.
Recognised as the preeminent youth development program globally.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a positive and rewarding challenge of self-discovery. By undertaking four core activities and regularly working towards individual goals, participants aged 14-24 are equipped and empowered to achieve their personal best. The Award participants take ownership of their own goals and life choices and become actively engaged within their community and workforce.
It presents young people with a program of voluntary activities that encourage personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility and service to the community. Each person who does The Award learns a skill, becomes more physically active, volunteers in their community and undertakes a team adventure. Open to all young people aged 14-24. The Award is offered in over 130 countries worldwide and is available at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, each progressively longer and more challenging.
The Award program is one of individual challenge.

Contact UsWhat is The Compass Award?
The Compass Award is the ‘opening act’ for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
It is designed to enhance development of the individual child and is targeted at students aged 10-14 years old. These students choose their own challenging activities, which are interesting, exciting and heaps of fun! At Mount Clear College, we conduct the level three award at year 7 and the level four award at year 8.
The Compass Award also builds an environment for positive engagement and interaction between the student, staff and family members. Participants undertaking the Compass Award are given opportunities to try new things and learn new skills. In the process, they develop initiative and commitment, becoming more responsible, resilient and motivated young people.
The Compass Award fosters positive attitudes towards learning while complementing the curriculum.
