We are extremely proud of the outstanding facilities we provide our students, many of which have come about following considerable building works, upgrades and refurbishments undertaken at our College during the past year. Major highlights include our state-of-the-art Technology Centre and the refurbishment of our 300 seat Theatre. With these projects now completed, further Government grants of $8.5 million dollars will be utilised over the next 3 years to upgrade our senior and junior school areas, providing a new Creative Arts Hub, Senior Study space, and VCAL Learning Centre, as well as major renovations and improvements to our grounds and outdoor areas to enhance and embrace our natural picturesque surrounding environment.
Alongside traditional education programs, Mount Clear offers a vast array of academic and cultural programs including Australia’s first Confucius Classroom (established in 2009 in partnership with the Chinese government). Mount Clear College’s purpose built Language Centre has become the Hub of LOTE and cultural programs throughout the region for Japanese and Chinese providing immersion programs to Primary Schools across the region.
We also have one of only six Specialist Science and Mathematics Centres in Victoria – our Earth Ed Centre. The Centre provides specialist day programs for students, professional development activities for teachers and is a hub for science education across the State and hosts primary and secondary students from across Victoria who attend specialised programs provided by our Earth Education Centre.
Our modern and fully equipped Library is not only an extensive resource centre, it also extends to facilitate the after-school study program.
With Sport being a popular focus for many students attending our College, we provide an array of facilities to accommodate the enormous variety of sports we offer. Our College has exceptional sport facilities including a Gymnasium featuring a full size basketball court, along with a second mini gymnasium, whilst our outdoor synthetic soccer pitch allows students to play soccer all year round.
We are fortunate to be located alongside the Mount Clear Recreational Reserve, providing a magnificent recently upgraded oval, available to students to play football and cricket. Other recreational facilities adjoining the oval include netball courts and tennis courts. The Woowookarung Regional Park also adjoins our College, providing a fabulous venue for our College Mountain Biking program and cross country running.
Mount Clear College has an outstanding Visual and Performing Arts program. Students have the opportunity to study dance, music, drama, visual arts, photography, media and visual communications. Our College boasts a 302 seat theatre, two specifically designed band rehearsal rooms and a purpose-built dance studio with industry standard sprung flooring. In addition to these outstanding facilities, we also have our own television studio and sound recording studio. Students have extensive opportunities to participate in the music and performing arts program including classroom music, drama and dance (solo, small and large ensembles) together with the opportunity to participate in orchestras, stage and concert bands, jazz ensembles and choir. Mount Clear College is one of six Musical Futures Champion Schools located throughout Australia. The Musical Futures program engages students with music interests and links the curriculum into their everyday lives. It is hands on, loud and a whole lot of fun!
